Happy New Year 2022!
Happy New Year, everyone! I hope you spent New Year’s Eve in good company and that you had a wonderful evening.
I wish you all and your loved ones a good health, a chance to go and see your relatives who live abroad, a peaceful professional life, an opportunity to make your dreams and projects come true.
I am thankful for all the healthcare professionals who bear with Covid-19, keep on nursing us and who have to take the brunt of the epidemic every single working day. I hope this year will be easier on them.
Let’s hope that this year will grow into an amazing transition year to a better future.
I wish us all an excellent reading year and I’ll come back later with my best-of-the-year list and 2022 reading projects. Meanwhile, here are the bookish gifts I got for Christmas. Look at my cool Mafalda tote bag and the cutest library socks ever!
I got myself a subscription to Quais du Polar, and along with it, the book Les jardins d’Eden by Pierre Pelot. I’m ready to read Nemesis by Philip Roth and see his take on a pandemic situation.
Many thanks to the book blogging community for sharing and exchanging about literature, libraries, book shelves, TBRs, book recommandations, for organizing challenges and events that bring us together. We make our lives better with civilized discussions about the immense pleasure that books and literature bring into our quotidian.
I’m looking forward to spending this new reading year with you.

Forget going abroad. Some of us just want to be able to visit relatives in the same country! Because of border restrictions I have been unable to see my parents and my sister and her family for two years. I a as m hoping this year we might actually all get to see each other. It’s kind of ironic, because part of the reason I repatriated was so I could see family more easily, but I may as well be still living in London. 🤷🏻♀️

It seems more complicated in federal countries. It seems always impossible to agree on the same rules for all the states, provinces and so on. I’ve heard of the quarantine rules in Australia through Bill’s truck driving. What a mess.

LOL, a book festival? I still haven’t forgiven them for cancelling the 2021 Melbourne Writers Festival. Any fool could see that a lockdown was on the cards, and they should have prepared for it. The authors were devastated…

I heard there’s a children book that sold 40 000 copies in Budapest as it is seen as resistance against the government. Good call.

I’m interested to see how authors incorporate the pandemic into books, but I don’t care for Roth. Happy New Year.

The interesting thing about this Roth is that it’s about another pandemic. I’ve never heard of a book about the Spanish influenza. Have you? It must have been a trauma, just in the wake of WWI.

In France, you don’t say Happy New Year in advance but are allowed to say it until the end of January. So, Happy New Year!
I have this subcription with a book blind date and a TLC package: I love it.
I’m looking forward to the Quais du Polar festival. They’ve published the list of authors who will attend and there’s a lot of new-to-me crime fiction writers.
